When you’re Google, and you make a change, people notice. The last search engine update from Google, which has been variously referred to as either Panda or Farmer, has seemingly sent minor shock waves through the companies who have grown to rely on the free traffic that Google sends to their websites.
Unfortunately for these poor souls, they are shutting down their operations, laying off employees, and seeking solutions that would help ease their desperation. Unfortunately for them, it won’t be coming.
Google does not owe any website traffic, and it doesn’t offer customer service for those who lose traffic because of an update. Instead, these webmasters are learning the most valuable business lesson of all: “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”
